Fun House of Mazes and Mirrors

I'm a youth minister, living on the Earth--more specifically, Staten Island, NY. I love ideas. I love to think about things that I've never thought about before. I like to think of the world as a giant kaleidescope that can be turned a couple of times, and all of a sudden, there is something new and beautiful.

I also love Jesus. I love helping people, and I love living a life of love.

I think the most beautiful thing about life is our imagination--our ability to dream. We all have dreams, and it's such a shame to give up on them. If anything, I think that's what God loves to do most of all--allow us to dream BIG, and then show us that it's not too BIG.

I want to leave the world a better place than I found it. Is that too much to ask for? I want to belong. Isn't that what we all want? I want to throw around ideas about anything and everything, because at the end of the day we are not THAT different--and yet, we are completely unique.

For Lent, I’m thinking of working through the life of Jesus as it relates to his geography, and how it is analogous to our own lives—where we look to Him as a Divine Example of godly living.

Briefly, I’m thinking along these lines—

1. Water — Where Jesus encounters the God who loves Him.

2. Wilderness— Where Jesus encounters the adversary who tempts Him.

3. Mountain— still working through this one, but probably something along the lines of Jesus encountering the God who exalts Him—the God who gives hope.

4. Garden— Jesus deals with Himself

5. The Cross— Where Jesus deals with His death, and forgiveness.

6. The Empty Tomb— Jesus who overcomes.

If anyone has thoughts, or comments, or contributions, they would be greatly appreciated, as I work through these points.  Thanks guys!  Peace and love.

  1. pressingheaven answered: In certain contexts, i saw mountains as a result of sin. “you will move mountains by faith” . The original creation had no mountains, i think
  2. today-isawindingroad answered: Maybe “mountain” can be used with “rock”? I’d like to hear about that since there are so many analogies of Him as “rock”. :) Cool idea!!
