I’ve heard it said that you should change for no one…. that if you have to change because of another person, that you aren’t staying true to yourself.
But I don’t believe love is an ethereal thing—that it is some foreign thing from whence we draw emotion, something intangible that simply “occurs” when we find someone who simply fits into our molds, and we fit into theirs.
No, for God’s sake, change. Change into something beautiful for the people around you. Change into the embodiment of love and selflessness, and charity. Change into something loveable. Change into what is lovely, and pure, and whole.
If you refuse to change for a person, how could you ever be vulnerable enough to love them? Doesn’t that simply mean that you are stubborn and proud enough to believe they must change to fit you?
Life is all about change. The question is—are you changing to the shape of the wrong person? Are you changing into the depths of darkness in your own soul? Or are you being changed into the beautiful and glorious image of our Lord Jesus?
For God’s sake—change. But do not be conformed to the patterns of this world, but instead, be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Peace and love, friends.
