You can’t discern what parts of the Bible you like… that’s how heresy is formed. Just because you can’t reconcile what Jesus says with what a prophet says doesn’t mean you can say the prophet is wrong. The Bible is unified through the Spirit.Even if the two completely contradict each other? really? So I’m to accept something that is contrary to the nature of God demonstrated in Jesus?

Instead, let’s rightly divide the Word of Truth—that means doing proper study to understand how we can reconcile the issue. For the specific example you gave me, here’s an article. Studying the original languages, the context, and a breadth of theology from other authors allows us to effectively navigate tough problems we might encounter. My suggestion would be to look at commentaries, and prayerfully interpret…. don’t ever allow yourself to just say “Jesus disagrees, let me throw it out.”
